SYNOPSIS

PENSION tells the story of Jan van der Horst (60). He is approaching his last working day as an accountant at an insurance company. On Jan's last day at work, he notices that he has meant nothing for the past 35 years and has not received any appreciation from his boss Lodewijk (the son of the company's founder). He has to work overtime on his last day.
Jan walks from work to his car for the last time. He feels hopeless, but when he walks to his car he sees an old man (Bram) being harassed by a group of young people. Jan hesitates to drive away, but sees the perfect moment to prove himself. The moment Jan gets out, he sees that the three young people are lying unconscious on the ground. Bram then drives away. Jan is in shock, but on the one hand inspired.
While Jan is on his way home, he receives an angry call from his wife (Angela) because he is so late. As a result, Jan decides to go to the pub to unload. He orders his favorite whiskey. The man next to him orders the same thing. It's the same old man, Bram.
Jan is panicking, but Bram reassures him and tells him that he also had a hard day at work. They start talking and drink together until late. After some drinks, Jan suggests he can do something for Bram. Bram would rather not discuss that in the pub, so they go to his house.
When they are at Bram's “house”, Bram wants to show Jan something. Bram turns on the lights and Jan doesn't believe what he sees. His boss Lodewijk is tied unconscious to a chair. Jan is panicking and wants to get out of the situation, but Bram tells Jan that this is the life he asks for.
Jan doesn't want it and walks towards the exit, but Bram threatens to shoot Jan if he doesn't tell him what Bram needs from him: the yearbooks from Lodewijk's insurance company. Jan reluctantly tells him where it is. Bram lowers his pistol, but not much later he points his gun at Lodewijk. Jan tries to stop Bram and *PAM*.
Jan is back at the office, Lodewijk tells Jan to work overtime again. It was a daydream. Jan decides not to work overtime this time and to go straight home.
When Jan arrives home, he is unknowingly congratulated by his friends and family. Jan is happy, but you can still see that he is missing something. After the surprise party, Jan and his wife Angela go to sleep, but he cannot. After a while he closes his eyes. He opens his eyes again, he is in the same pub.

For the role of Louis:

Appearance:

- Slim build with a lean appearance.
- Age between 30 and 40 years.
- Can radiate arrogance and spoiledness.

Acting Skills:
- be able to convincingly portray Louis's brutal and opportunistic personality.
- Being able to show emotions such as contempt and condescension.
- Being able to convincingly play that Lodewijk has no interest in his father's company and shows little respect for others.
- Flexibility to act in both scenes of confrontation and more subtle moments of manipulation.

Character description:

Lodewijk (35) is the son of the company's founder. A spoiled, poor man who has no value whatsoever to the company.
The father (Karel) set up the company with blood, sweat and tears, to which Jan has made a major contribution.
The relationship between Jan and Karel was better than with his own son. Karel unfortunately died young at the age of 50. Lodewijk is a brutal man, he was able to quickly intervene to take over the company. Jan is too modest to argue against this.
